View from the tower:  Dedham Vale is an area of outstanding natural beauty offering a wealth of opportunities to both visitors and locals alike.  Made famous by artists such as Constable and Gainsborough the characteristic lowland English landscape can be seen in all its glory from the superb vantage point of Dedham Church Tower.

The tower, completed in 1519, is actually an independent structure and is particularly imposing for a church of this size.  The tower is 131 feet high and is the most striking feature in this part of the Stour Valley.

Dedham Church stands at the heart of the village and is participating in the ‘Managing a Masterpiece’ programme which, where possible has been sponsoring tower tours across the Stour Valley.   Each tour provides fascinating insights into the history, architecture and workings of this magnificent building. You will be guided through discoveries and curiosities ranging from the royal connections of the benefactors to the boy who couldn’t spell his name. Offering spectacular views from 40m above Dedham High Street the tour also includes a rare opportunity to see the ancient ring of eight bells which each week call the villagers to worship.

Enjoy all that this church and the surrounding countryside has to offer by visiting us today.
